Breaking News: AEW/Tony Khan Lawsuit

The claim is that AEW has control over talent and wrestler wardrobe, the performance of the wrestlers in the ring, the time and place of the services and speech and conduct of the wrestlers or talent.  They also require talent to help promote AEW.  They also have rules about social media which they claim limit what talent and wrestlers can say publicly, including any criticism, warranted or not of AEW or its talent and wrestlers.

The contracts preclude wrestlers and talents from providing services to other wrestling companies without the approval of AEW, they are for a length of time rather than for an individual event, and AEW sets the compensation price.

They are arguing wrestlers should be listed as employees and get workmen’s compensation health insurance, that AEW should pay social security and Medicare payments among other things.
